Surprise Snow

I don't know, maybe it was announced, but I didn't expect to see this when I got up this morning:

All the branches are weighed down by the snow. There could be ice under there too as this all started out as rain yesterday. 

That thick line across the picture is the neighbour's clothesline. 

It's still snowing but is beginning to switch over to rain. It's above freezing now so I expect it will melt a little today? But it's forecasting 5cm of snow today, 15-20cm tomorrow and more over the next week. I guess our winter has finally come.

Here's what it looked like yesterday morning (remember, it turned to rain in the afternoon so it melted even more after this pic was taken). 

What a shocking thing to wake up to!
